One of the greatest challenges facing non governmental organizations (NGOs) today—including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs)—is raising funds to support their activities and ensure financial sustainability.

The resource mobilization landscape has become increasingly competitive, driven by the growing number of development actors and a universal decline in donor funding. This has created a situation where numerous NGOs are competing for a shrinking pool of donors. The problem has been further exacerbated by the recent global economic crisis, ongoing wars in Europe, and the withdrawal of development funding by the current U.S. government. These factors have led to a significant scarcity of resources, making fundraising even more difficult for NGOs.

While many NGOs are gradually acquiring skills in proposal development and writing, a significant number still lack the necessary skills and techniques for effective resource mobilization. Many do not have clear plans outlining how and when to mobilize resources. Instead, they often wait passively for opportunities, waiting for calls for proposals rather than proactively seeking funding avenues.

To address these challenges, Sustainable Participatory Interventions for Development (SPAIDE), in partnership with the Centre for Analytical Research in Development Limited (CARD Ltd), is offering a training program designed to equip organizations with the knowledge, tools, and skills required to fundraise effectively and achieve financial independence.
